A smart Allied tank commander understood the only way to destroy a Tiger I was to run a round its back side and hit it point blank in the butt with their 76 or 75 mm high velocity gun.  This has been famously show in the war movie "Kelly's Heroes", with Donald SUtherland's character Oddball in an entertaining manner announcing angrily to Don Rickles, Clint Eastwood, and Telly Savalas amongst others.  How such is properly carried out!

Conversely, an infantry bazooka crew quickly learned if they survived  that a Tiger's armor was impenetrable by a bazooka rocket and hence the achilles heel of the Tiger was its tracts.  Both methods of destroying a Tiger came to an end with the introduction of the King Tiger.

The easies t way then was to have a big 10 or 155 mm gun on hand which weren't alwasy available.

So one might have to go the route of the Russians, who early on used crude molotov cocktails and other homemade incendiary bombs to burn a tank and its crew out.

The British, Australian, New Zealand, American, and Indian troops would regularly use improvised methods to destroy Japan's light tanks on the Burma Road, will all sorts of creative gasoline concoctions.
